God Wants To Bless Us

By Louie Marsh, 1-12-2020

Lunch 2 slides, 3 cartoon slides

1) God says He wants to bless EVERYONE.

6  Only--goodness and kindness pursue me, All the days of my life…Psalm 23:6a (YLT)

32  He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 (ESV)

2) So why aren’t I blessed?

  • If I’m FOLLOWING JESUS I am blessed!

3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, Ephesians 1:3 (ESV)

32  He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 (ESV)

3) I can choose to BLOCK my blessings

15  And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15 (ESV)

4) CHOOSING to sin blocks my blessings.

25  Your iniquities have turned these away, and your sins have kept good from you. Jeremiah 5:25 (ESV)

5) Refusing to FORGIVE blocks my blessings.

14  Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. 15  See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; 16  that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. 17  For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears. Hebrews 12:14-17 (ESV)

18  Beware lest there be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe whose heart is turning away today from the LORD our God to go and serve the gods of those nations. Beware lest there be among you a root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit, Deuteronomy 29:18 (ESV)

6) God is #forparker but can’t bless us until we FOLLOW JESUS.

12  Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. Hosea 10:12 (ESV)

17  From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." Matthew 4:17 (NIV)
