Everyday In The Spirit, Pt. 6

Realigned by the Spirit, Rom. 8:26

By Louie Marsh, 2-10-2019

4 Realign slides ending with Steve Taylor.

1) The Holy Spirit TRANSFORMS ME into the image of Christ!

18  And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV)

  •  This is a LIFE LONG PROCESS

THREE WAYS HE TRANSFORMS OUR LIVES

1) When I can’t pray the Spirit HELPS ME.

26  Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27  And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27 (ESV)

26  Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. Romans 8:26 (MSG)

2) When I’m confused the Spirit HELPS ME KNOW God’s Mind!

9  But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— 10  these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (ESV)

15  The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16  “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:15-16 (ESV)

3) When I’m weak the Spirit is STRONG IN & THROUGH ME.

26  Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness... Romans 8:26a (ESV)

8  Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9  But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10  For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (ESV)

4) Two Don’ts & a Do.

  • Don’t GRIEVE  the Spirit.

30  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30 (ESV)

  • Don’t QUENCH the Spirit.

19  Do not quench the Spirit. 20  Do not despise prophecies, 21  but test everything; hold fast what is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 (ESV)

  • Do FIRE UP the Spirit’s presence and power in my life.

6  For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7  for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:6-7 (ESV)

Spirit Standard #6

To be Realigned by the Spirit means I allow Him to bring every area of my life into conformity with God’s Word & Will.
