Give Thanks – Against the Grain
1 Thess. 5:16-18

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)
1) Praising God can be DIFFICULT SOMETIMES.
15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15 (ESV)

2) I can always praise God for WHO & WHAT He is.
3 For I will proclaim the name of the LORD; ascribe greatness to our God! 4 “The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he. Deuteronomy 32:3-4 (ESV)
What can I praise Him for?
1) LOVE 2) GRACE 3) POWER 4) JUSTICE
5) GREATNESS 6) FAITHFULNESS 7) PERFECTION 8) KNOWLEDGE
9) PATIENCE 10) TRUTH 11) WISDOM 12) EVER PRESENT
13) SORROW (over sin) 14) COMPASSION
3) I can always praise God for His MIGHTY ACTIONS!
1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! 2 Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Psalm 150:1-2 (ESV)
