I Must Question & Listen #forparker

By Louie Marsh, 3-1-2020

Slides end with Jesus asks Questions.

1) I must question MYSELF before anyone else.

47  And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Matthew 5:47 (ESV)

2) Don’t speak if you’re not committed to LISTENING.

19  Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; James 1:19 (ESV)

I listen with…

          My Ears

          My Eyes

          My Mouth

  • Be willing and ready to ANSWER their questions too.

15  but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 1 Peter 3:15 (ESV)

3) Questions to ask & answer.

  • Should I SUFFER silence?

46  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Matthew 27:46 (ESV)

  • What? Me WORRY?

27  And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28  And why are you anxious about clothing?...Matthew 6:27-28 (ESV)

26  If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? Luke 12:26 (ESV)

  • Am I SPIRITUALLY Blind?

3  Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Matthew 7:3 (ESV)

17  And Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened? 18  Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember? Mark 8:17-18 (ESV)

  • Do I have BIBLICAL Boundaries?

14  But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or arbitrator over you?” Luke 12:14 (ESV)

22  Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” John 21:22 (ESV)

  • Is my Faith fully FUNCTIONAL?

28  When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” Matthew 9:28 (ESV)

31  Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:31 (ESV)

  • How’s my HEART?

6  When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” John 5:6 (ESV)

15  When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” John 21:15 (ESV)
