Cartoons & two Myanmar pics

1) JOIN in praise of God.

1 Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. 2  Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness. Psalm 29:1-2 (ESV)

Heavenly begins = angels, David invites them to join in praising God!

What are we to praise God for?

  • God’s GLORY &

  • Biblical praise is ALWAYS FOR THINGS.

Always - Juan Carlos Ortiz in his book Disciple – 1977 - on how silly it is to praise God without doing that!

  • PRAISE & WORSHIP are inseparable.

Though out the entire Bible this is true! Worship brings you to praise God, praising Him leads you to worship.

2) RESPOND TO the Voice of God.

  • He is ALL POWERFUL.

3  The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters. 4  The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. Psalm 29:3-4 (ESV)

God is all powerful – stronger than Yam – Canaanite Sea god.

Me and the thunderstorm in Kingman.

  • Nothing can STAND AGAINST GOD.

5  The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon. 6  He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox. Psalm 29:5-6 (ESV)

Cedars of Lebanon – huge trees, symbols of strength – like Calif Redwoods

Sirion = mountains of Lebanon/Syria – God is so powerful that His voice alone can make them dance!

  • God OVERCOMES EVERYTHING.

7  The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire. 8  The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 9  The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, “Glory!” Psalm 29:7-9 (ESV)

God shakes the world – His power is boundless

3) UNDERSTAND Who God really is!

10  The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever. Psalm 29:10 (ESV)

Flood = out of control circumstances. What is the flood in your life? Do you believe God is in control over it? Are you trusting Him to work it out in His time?

  • He is Sovereign!

10  The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever. Psalm 29:10 (ESV)

Above the floodwaters is God's throne from which his power flows, from which he rules the world. Psalm 29:10 (Mes)

  • He is mightier than our

4) RECEIVE the strength God gives.

11  May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace! Psalm 29:11 (ESV)

  • God wants to give me HIS STRENGTH!

Strength = OZ = strong, mighty or fierce.

It was used of a tower, a man or even love

But was primarily used of God – I can have God’s own strength – if I allow the Holy Spirit to come fill and control my life!

  • His strength results in PEACE IN MY HEART.

Peace = shalom – wholeness – God’s power flowing in our lives gives us peace because it helps us to trust Him!

  • How do I get it? God BLESSES ME!

Bless = baruk = blessings are given by a greater to a lesser – and are SPOKEN! You speak a blessing!

1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2  He was in the beginning with God. John 1:1-2 (ESV)

The source of our strength is Jesus – the Word – the voice – of God!

What will you do with Him?
